Case Worker/Police Station Rep

Dean joined BNG in September 2005. Before he joined us he read LLB Taxation and Law and took the BVC course. He has undertaken work experience at the Crown Prosecution Service numerous barrister chambers and spent two weeks as a judicial marshal with two Crown Court Judges.

Dean is a Crown Court case worker and is close to completing his police station accreditation.

He has extensive Crown court case experience and has dealt with matters of extreme complexity and delicacy ranging from child sex offences to proceeds of crime. He wishes to develop his specialism in proceeds of crime, sexual offences and youth crimes.

Below, provide a flavour of some of the cases Dean has worked on;

R v Serrano [2006] successfully defended a man charged with 9 counts of sexual offences including 4 counts of rape on girls under the age of 16.
R v. McKeown, McGlynn and Murray [2006] successfully defended the third defendant in a high profile case involving the "The Bay City Rollers" in which all defendants were charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs.
R v Hogan and Williams [2006] defended both defendants for importing 16kg of cocaine.
R v Crowley [2006] defended a man charged with 4 armed robberies, dangerous driving and other related driving offences.
R v Lynch [2007] successfully defended a man charged with attempted murder and GBH with intent.
R v Asante [2007] defended a 15 year old charged with 7 robberies and a GBH.
R v Chowdhury [2008] defended a 19 year old charged with false imprisonment, GBH, Possession of a firearm, blackmail, theft and administrating a noxious substance.
R v Voss [2008] defended a mother charged with indecent images of children.
R v Trainer [2008] defended a 75 year old charged with historical sexual allegations.
R v Okafor [2008] defended a female with importing cocaine into the UK.
R v Singh [2008] – defended a 15 year old charged with 2 robberies, ABH and GBH with intent.

Dean has travelled extensively throughout South America and whilst living in Ecuador he assisted an Irish National in EL Inca Prison in Quito. He assisted her with her case and helped to establish a school within the prison. He was able to gain a good understanding of the Ecuadorian criminal legal system and see the stark contrasts.
